We will address the important issues facing adult literacy programs in the emerging areas of: SCLLN Literacy Conference 2012: Feb 25SCLLN Literacy Conference 2012 Urgent Action needed -Proposed Elimination of Adult Education at LAUSDDear fellow colleagues: I am writing with grave concern over Superintendent John Deasy's proposal before the School Board of Education to terminate the Adult Education Program for the 2012-2013 school budget. This affects 347,000 youth and adults who are currently enrolled and have very little options to finish their High School and/or get their GED among other educational benefits itemized below. Further it would have a devastating effect on the vision of our 'One Los Angeles' campaign and the welcoming environment that Los Angeles has to immigrants. The LAUSD Adult Education and Career Division provides the following for our hard working parents and residents of the greater Los Angeles community.
